Howdy, fellow pickers;
I was just curious as to what string sets, brands and guages that those of you who own a Gretsch 6122-59 use. Thanks, Tom W.
Re: String sets
Hi Tom. Joe here. I to have a NC 59 guitar. I use Ernie Ball strings on it. I use the 10 gauge being the high E string is a 10. They sound good to me and they seem to me to sound brighter tone wise. I also use the Gretsch Chet Atkins strings as well. They had a blow sale and I bought Two cases. They sound good as well but I still favor the Ernie Ball strings. Have a great Christmas and New Year. All the best Joeb

Tom, I made up my own set, .011-.o13-.017plain .028-.038-.048. These work just fine for me. I order them from Just Strings. Thanks, Terry

Re: String sets
At the moment, D'Addario EXL110W Nickel Wound - 10 to 46ga. The W on the end signifies it has a wound 3rd.

Re: String sets
D'addario 11 - 48 but I want to try pure nickles in the same gauge. That gauge seems to work great for me on that guitar. I think it might be what they come with. Happy trails

Re: String sets
Thanks, everyone for your input. I've been using D'addario .011 - .049 with a wound 3rd. I use Elixir Nanowebs on my Taylor 414ce which I like very much and was considering trying a set of Nanowebs-for-electric guitar but, they don't come with a wound 3rd which I prefer. Anyway, I was just curious as to what you guys were using. Thanks, again. Tom W.
