This is a great article on Merle Travis's Super 400. I enjoyed reading it in the magazine. Sad to say there aren't many guitar magazines stiubo8shing.
Have a great day.

Thanks for sharing that Ray...I've owned a couple of Gretsches, including a Tennessean, but never had a good Gibson hollowbody or archtop from any period...believe me, I've looked for one for years...they always seemed 'clunky', flat sounding or unbalanced...the finest archtop I ever owned was a Stromberg/Epiphone...the model escapes me now, as the guitar escaped my clutches 30 years ago!

You're welcome. I have owned a couple of great (for me) Gibson arch tops. I had a 1953 Gibson L4-C to which I added a floating pickup to the pickguard that played great and sounded great to me. I also had a 1990 Gibson Chet Atkins Tennessean for about 30 years that was great sounding, too. I put a Les Trem on that one and enjoyed it. It had that neck pickup that was only ever in the Gibson Gent and Tennessean that I enjoyed whether alone or mixed with the bridge humbucker.

This is a link to a video with the L-4C and a slide show with some photos of it.

Here is a link to a video of the Tennessean where I play a TV theme song medley. Hope you enjoy them.
