Beautiful Vid Of Chet Playing His Del Vechio

The camera work on this one is really good. Really showcases Chet’s playing in a beautiful setting. Also real clear close-ups of Chet’s hands. Although the numbers on the screen are quite annoying.

Thanks for this one Doug. It's yet another Chet Atkins performance that I never got to witness until today.

It's interesting that this one was posted by the Cindy Thornton/ David Paul "team". It's new to me also!

I know. I had apprehensions about posting it due to that fact...but it was so beautiful (except for those annoying numbers!) and I thought, hey, it’s still Chet, no matter what the provenance. So I figured shoot. What the heck, go for it.

Here is another beautiful performance on the classical guitar that has those same annoying numbers.

What an awesome find!!

The volume is really robust on that!

I had never seen Chet do that on video!

I have the written tab to the arrangement, but the problem with those tunings like the one he is using is it is (for me) a pain to tune to the alternate tuning then tune back and try to keep the guitar in tune during all that messing around so I don’t do those tunes a whole lot due the the hassle involved.

Thanks for sharing the Okracoke video!

Doug it's worth it to include tunes with the drop tunings in them even considering you have to retune. Drop both bass strings a full step and you get beautiful sounds for Wheels, Yellow Bird, Sloop John B, Vincent, Both Sides Now, etc. Drop just the bass e string and you can get the Entertainer, Let Em In, Imagine, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Tahitiian Skies, etc. Anyway those are some of my favorites using the drop tunings and it adds so much nice bass sound to the mix. Rick Allred taught me a whole bunch of these drop tuning songs and I'm grateful for it.

Thanks.
