Rich, I consider you to be a friend. You and I have gotten together a couple of times and I love your enthusiasm and the way you think and your conservative values,especially considering that you live in California! What I was doing was to contrast the life decisions going forward from the point of realizing that I would never sound like Chet. A person can put the guitar aside or they can continue practicing and searching for our own identity with Chet having been the inspiration. I really was never trying to sound like Chet anyway. What I did was to analyze his smoothness and how he put everything together. He was the first person that I ever heard who put so much together in playing one song! That whole process got me excited because I wanted to play all of those parts all by myself too! Figuring all of this out gave me the tools to create for the rest of my life!
