Re: Chet Atkins and the Del Vecchio
Thanks Al,
I'm sure yours is a really good one, I've heard good things about those that Chuck Tucker imported. It's too bad that someone doesn't do that now. I guess it's not worth the trouble. I have an ad in my scrapbook that Chuck Tucker ran in either Frets magazine or Guitar Player. I've always thought that it would be nice if someone could make a reasonably priced, good copy of the Del Vecchio, that would be great to.

Re: Chet Atkins and the Del Vecchio
Chuck,
That is a beautiful Del Vecchio. It would be great if you could post some recordings of it. Just want to let everyone know that my friend and I are building a copy of the Del Vecchio. We have painstakingly measured all of the details from an original that I have. We're of course not at the final stage, but we have the molds made and all of the bracing cut. We'll see how it turns out - hopefully we can make them available to folks - if of course they meet our standards. We'll keep ya posted!
Alex

Re: Chet Atkins and the Del Vecchio
Thanks Alex! I plan on playing it on one song at our Gospel Guitar Night next month. I usually have some video from that and post it on YouTube. I hope I get some video of it and post it at the end of next month.
That's really neat that you a building a Del Vecchio copy. Hopefully it turns out great. I know Del Vecchios can be really finicky. I'm sure it would be a lot of work and once you get your time and materials in it you may have to charge quite a bit if you go into production.

Mine also is short scale with an 2 inch classical neck, an ebony fingerboard and a built-in trussrod. I have had it for a long time. I thought mine sounded better than the Magill model, not as well made though. Al

Re: Chet Atkins and the Del Vecchio
I would bet they are of lighter construction than the McGill and there's the rub. That's part of why the DelVecchios sound like they do and why Chet kept going back to the Brazillian units even though he had a McGhill. Flimsy and funky sounds better...
