My prayers have gradually shifted to Marie and the family after hearing recently that he was in hospice care. It was a privilege to first get acquainted with Paul right here on the Chetboard and through email conversations, and then I was fortunate enough to meet him in Nashville at CAAS in 2006. He always treated me with respect and introduced me as his friend. He will be dearly missed by the Chetboard, CAAS, the Nashville music community, but his family and close friends will miss him most. I pray that God will comfort them with the peace that only He can provide. It is my belief that Paul is completely healed and enjoying a new healthy body while being surrounded by those who have gone before him.
Rest in peace, Paul Yandell, my friend!

A very sad morning indeed. I saw this thread right away and cried. Paul was such an inspiration, a good friend, and one of the best pickers out there. He will be greatly missed by many. I appreciated all his kind words and him actuallty taking the time to get to know Eddie and I. For me....CAAS won't be the same.
My condolences go out to Marie, Micah and Sherie.

I am saddened by the news of his passing. I send my condolences to his family and friends. Most of us got to know Paul through Chet Atkins' concerts, CAAS, recordings, and the Chetboard. The 'FAQ for Paul Yandell, CGP' will serve as a place of honor and the valuable information he provided for us. He was a dedicated guitar player who willingly shared his opinions and information.
Thanks Paul Yandell, CGP

Even when you know it's coming it still hits you...
He was dealing with a lot of pain in the end... that's over now...
Between his CD's and instructional vid and, in particular being the driving inspiration for the 6122-59 and the CGP I'd say he left quite a mark for a retired sideman of two of America's best guitarists ever, Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins
