NBC/Universal are nuts!

Welcome to the new Chetboard!

NBC/Universal are nuts!

Postby Eddie Estes » Sat Nov 05, 2011 8:02 am

I sent a request for a DVD of the Dave Garroway show with Chet.
The response "sure no problem it will cost you $150 a minute for the video"

Someone there must have been hard drug users.

I wrote back that you can buy an entire series of some shows on DVD for $35.

So if anyone can figure out how to capture it off the net that will be the best available.

I did try to explain that I was trying to get a copy for the CAAS. So we will see if that softens hearts there!

Its just greed, we see it in Banks with service charges, medical charges, prescription drugs, you name it, companies want as much money from people as they can get.

The company I used to work for used to sell "O-Rings" to our asian customers for $22.00 each. Similar products from a general supplier cost about .05 cents. Go figure.

We all need to stand up against companies like NBC and find other alternatives.

You might try the Bear Family for that video.

Here is a link to Dave Garroway from Craig Dobbins, some time ago.
You might contact Craig to see if he still has a copy

Love these clips. Thanks so much for the links.

Phil, I saw most of the "In Concert" episode when it was aired. That was what, about 1974 or '75? I remember Chet with a Dorado guitar (I think) and his Super Chet, and Jerry standing next to an old Ford singing "Lord, Mr. Ford." The album came out a few months later, and I bought a copy at the drug store. (Anybody else remember the record jobber racks at grocery and drug stores?)

I used to sit in front of the TV set with my Panasonic cassette recorder and record Chet and Jerry's performances.

Hi Gary-

You misread my comment. I don't have the Dave Garroway clip. I was talking about recording Chet and Jerry on "ABC In Concert" in the mid 1970's- on a little audio cassette recorder, not video.

Thanks,

Craig

I don't have a problem paying for it. I fully expected to pay about $60 for it, which is still too much.
But $150 a minute.
Drug companies and doctors save people's lives and research costs money and medical education
is expensive. So I can kinda understand that being high.
But $150 a minute for video is completely ridiculous!
