Has anyone heard from Norm?

Postby guitarchuck » Thu Oct 13, 2011 10:31 am

I just got a strange email from Norm. I think someone may have hijacked his email account. Let me know if you have heard from him.

That has happened with several of us on this board. It's difficult to prevent but not too difficult to remedy with a password change. The big hassle is to explain to everyone on your email list who hasn't commented but who believes that it was authentic. I usually find out about those months down the road.

Yes, I received the same strange email "from Norm" (this morning), claiming he was in the UK, and asking for money because he had "lost his wallet" over there! Pretty well composed, and even signed the way he signs his emails!

I also received an email from "Michael Coppola" a few days ago, also asking for money.

It's obvious these are scams, and should just be ignored.

David,
That's the same email that I received. Hopefully these guys see these posts and change their email passwords.

Same here. It seems strange he doesn´t seem to get much help from the Consular Section of the US Embassy. I guess like at other foreign representations he won´t be given cash there and then, but they´ll assist him in getting financial support from someone at home. In fact, it´s one of the duties of an embassy or a consulate to assist their own citizens in need of help in a foreign country.

I see that "Norm" has been posting on the Gretschpages as late as October 11. I took the liberty to ask him when he arrived in the UK. Now I´m in suspense, waiting for an answer to solve this problem.

Too late!
I already wired it to him to an address they gave me in the UK. Funny though, I wonder why they told me to send it to the Ukrainian Embassy? But that's okay, I know ol' Norm will make it good if there's anything goes wrong...
