Visit to Chet's house

Postby pattie surman » Sat Sep 17, 2011 8:21 pm

Back in the mid 50's, I remember sending for the Acuff Rose book 'Chet Atkins Guitar Method '' and studying those photos of Chet in his leather chair playing and working on his D'Angelico. When the album "Chet Atkins At Home "came out, WOW!, Chet's home studio. Would I love to see that. The CAAS convention fulfilled many dreams such as visiting Chet's office and seeing his current home but every year when we got home , I said to my wife, we should have looked for his home at Lincoln Court. In retrospect It's a good thing we didn't because In all probability i would have done something stupid as knocking on the door and ask if I could come in and look around. So , today I decided to visit his first home. I went to Google map and typed in 110 Lincoln Court Nashville Tn.and then click on street view and there it was. Still not satisfied I went back to Google and typed in sale of 110 lincoln Court Nashville Tn. There was a photo of the house with updates and photos of each and every room. I finally got my wish . The house is currently for sale . If I only had $350.000. Stan Surman.

Thanks for posting that Stan! I wonder if his last home was sold? Here's a website that says it's still in his name:

Gives a neat birdseye view. You can click on the rotate arrow and look around the outside.

Here's some facts about his last home:

I am going to make a guess and say it was this room. It looks to still have the wood paneling you see on the cover of Chet Atkins at Home on the wall but it has been painted.
I am going to guess Chet was about here on the cover with his recording equipment. Looks like a closet has been added.
Yeah if I had a spare $350,000 I wouldn't mind having it.

If I had a spare 350K I could buy three of those where I come from....then again...they'd be where I come from...so there's that. LOL

Hi Eddie.....I think you are 100% correct. I dug out my C.A.At Home album just to check, and to my surprise concerning a previous post , check out that bar bridge and see if you see what I see?

Stan,
I wouldn't be so concerned about that bar bridge and the action on Chet's guitar, it's those socks that do the trick!
