Eyewitness account from a neighbor....

2 doors down, Jack Clement's recording studio burned down. It was an archive of priceless music history. Hundreds of original master tapes from the 1940's to now, of dolly parton, louis armstrong, johnny cash, elvis and countless others were lost in the fire. Most of these were never digitized and are irreplaceable.
Some things were salvaged, I helped carry out a framed piece of notebook paper, the original handwritten lyrics to "When i dream, i dream of you", as well as 2 armfulls of Gold records, awards, and artifacts.

Doug,

thanks for the post. What a sad loss! At least Cowboy Jack is fine!

Where did you find that eyewitness account? The Tennessean article is much more unspecific about a possible loss of historic documents, especially old recordings.

Best,

Ingo

Ingo,

I got it from an old girlfriend from Nashvegas in a post on Facebook. The neighbor had a large series of pics posted also, but I couldn't link to them from here. I hope he can rebuild...it would be a real shame to see that part of Nashville history come to an end.

Doug

ps- It really is tragic. I never got to record there, but I hung out there during sessions with some other writers back in the day. It had a great laid back atmosphere...in a nice neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of music row.
