Nice article on Sand Guitars, haven't finished it, but good references to Chet of course.

Re: Sand article in Premier Guitar
It's a good article. Among other things, Kirk talks about the guitar he just built for Paul Yandell. The one that Paul had a CAAS.

Re: Sand article in Premier Guitar
This was a very informative article about Kirk and his guitars. I have a Sand guitar on order as we speak and I will tell you that even though it takes a while to get the end product is well worth the wait. Kirk has been so responsive to every minute change I might want or idea, as well as offering suggestions. Every email I have sent him or phone call he has personally answered and takes the time to answer your questions and concerns. What really impressed me was the time I went to his shop to visit and he took the time out of his busy schedule to chat with me and my daughter about his products, operation and just general music issues. My daughter aksed a simple question about "installing abalone inlay" ... rather than just explain the process Kirk took the time to show her how it was done. Kirk is the real deal and if you want a superior instrument then I would not hesitate to contact him ... be prepared to wait as it takes a while but in the end you will have something that is without equal.

Nice find, thanks!
Unfortunately, they called the guitar on the first page a Feliciano model, although they pictured the John Knowles model.
Anyway, interesting interview. Even includes a banjo joke.

Two Paul Yandell Sand guitars
The one I saw at CAAS
Paul Yandell Steel String Sand(PY3S) has a Butts pup
The other
Paul Yandell Classical has a PrismatoneII
I could be wrong I've never seen the second one.
