7th Annual Chet Tribute in Toronto

Postby Randy Finney » Mon Apr 04, 2011 12:03 pm

Just thought I would let you guys know that Chet's music is alive and well up here in Toronto.

On Saturday night The Chet Atkin's Fan Club of Toronto held its 7th Annual Tribute to Chet and played to a sold out house. (The capacity of the club was only 65. I could / should have used a bigger club because we could have had at least 100. Oh well, next year.)

Speaking of next year, I hope to entice some of you guys to come up to Toronto to participate in our annual tribute. Who knows, it may even turn into a weekend sort of thing. A kind of late winter / early spring warm up to CAAS. (Although its not all that warm up here in late winter / early spring.)

The line up was...

RANDY FINNEY
"Happy Again"
"Oh, By Jingo"
"Amazing Grace"

RANDY FINNEY & JO-ANNE PARK
"Swedish Rhapsody"
"Country Gentleman"

JO-ANNE PARK
"Drive In"
"Slinkey"
"For No One"
"Rose Ann"
"Hidden Charm"
"Young Thing"

RON BLOOR
"Windy & Warm"
"Vincent"
"And So It Goes"
"Merle Travis Medley"

DAVE BARRETT
"Waiting For Suzie B."
"Pu, Uana Hulu"

DAVE BARRETT & RANDY FINNEY
"Deed I Do"
"Mister Bojangles"
"Serenade To Summertime"
"Dark Eyes"

Intermission

WENDEL FERGUSON
"Chinatown"
"Fret No More"
"Blue Ocean Echo"
"Mister Sandman"

WENDELL FERGUSON & DUNSTAN MOREY
"Tiger Rag / Cannonball Rag"
"All Of Me"

DUNSTAN MOREY

It was a nice mix of older and newer, electric, acoustic and nylon. I had someone ask me if I gave lessons!

It would be nice to have some of the American pickers there. We play Chet tunes with a Canadian accent!

I don't think there is any video.

Here a few pictures that Jo-Anne took (which is why she isn't in any of them).
