That is Jim Reeves vocals.

It’s not that hard to take the vocals out and overdub.

You might be right. As for the guitar, seems a little ahead of the beat at times. Also, the guitar licks behind the vocal in the second half are not anywhere tasteful as Chet might do. They don’t compliment the vocal, but rather shout out “look how great I can play”.

Just my opinion and in fond memory to Norm, “your mileage may vary”....

I guess I got confused because the original post said it was “close to Jim.” That would indicate someone singing like him. But I thought “Wow! He is a better impersonator than Rich Little, because I could not tell any difference at all,

But we are settled on that it actually was Jim?

I am 95% sure that is Jim Reeves.

In my opinion you cant get vocals to sound like those old recordings anymore and that sounds like an old analog recording on the vocals!

I seem to remember that D.P. sent me this take on Jim Reeves several years ago now. He said the vocalist was some Brittish guy that could make his voice sound like the late Jim Reeves. I didn't really like D.P's playing on this one it was not Chet sounding to me.

I have to totally concur that from listening to this after the first time, I could just tell it was not Chet. Something was off about it if it was meant to impersonate Chet. Tone was not pure Chet. Phrasing was not Chet.

Jim had golden pipes. I can sing the song “decent”, but I still end up sounding like me, lol! https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A ... z6Uyhr&s=1

I am a vocal impersonator; a voice actor. I impersonate hundreds of voices...speaking and singing..but Jim was so totally unique. So resonant. So mellifluous. Smooooooooth. Almost impossible to impersonate.

Not to be argumentative but here is clip of an Irishman named Al Green who sounds so much like Jim Reeves.

Maybe D.P. was referring to this guy when he sent me his attempt at "He'll have to go". Just sayin'. I couldn't find a clip of him doing "He'll have to go" on youtube.
