Re: After You've Gone
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't discourage this kid from playing in the least (he's really good)- but, didn't Chet say one should listen to the words to a tune before they play it? It's a sad song and as such, he plays it waaay too fast. However, I would kill to have ever had his nimble fingers!!! And, I LOVE the jazzy transitions he's put in there. I might even try to slow this down and see if i can't "borrow" them... LOL
He's a keeper, Mark. Kinda reminds me of some young man that came through Columbus a couple times several years ago...

Maybe "we" could get Doc to invite him to come play with "The Young Thumbs" at CAAS this coming summer???

Yeah. That's a point well-taken, Palmer. I wouldn't hurt to slow down a bit, would it? But still, in the morass of genuinely morbid attempts to cover Chet on youtube, this kid at least has skill, and some decent musical ideas. Indeed, let's hope he slows a bit so we can chew on those ideas along with him. LMarkPickin Palmer wrote:. . . he plays it waaay too fast.

I watched his video of Polka Dots and Moonbeams, and the young man has a great voice as well.

He is a great player and has a great future!
Speed seems to be the name of the game in fingerstyle now.
Restraint and feeling need to be encouraged more now.
