Chet's rear Pickup

Postby albertgen » Tue Nov 28, 2017 8:22 pm

I just noticed that Chet turned the back pickup around on his Gretsch Super Axe. So I guess he liked that pickup response better. He done it again many years later on his Gibson Country Gentleman. Al

I believe Paul said you got more highs doing that.

Pretty non-invasive. If you don't like it, turn it back. Try it. Then you too can tell folks you tinker your guitars.

I think Gretsch was trying for sokid body market traction but I doubt many people liked it when he strayed from his '59
And as we all know, that was a very tinkered guitar

aw shucks.

For a long while it was running pretty thin. Nobody posting and I'm seldom one to "lead the discussion"

Compared to the past it continues to run very "thin". FaceBook began in 2005 and that has had an effect on the use of this board, among other issues. Many of us are there. I use both regularly.

Rande, is there a "Chet Atkins page" on Facebook? If so I'd like to be included on it. Thanks in advance!

best regards,
Rich

No Rich, not that I'm aware of. Of course you can also put his name into the search bar but I doubt it. I have just slowly networked with over 100 of his fans that I see every summer at the convention.

Actually Rande, there is a public group called the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society that you have to apply for. It's somewhat like here and I enjoy going there and checking on who's playing where and videos that folk's post. It's kind of neat. Here is a link to it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ray! I had no idea! I see they have over 2,000 members. I'll have to see who I know there!
