Alabama Jubilee

On youtube I started with Chet Atkins versions of this tune and then on to several other fingerstyle pickers but also Roy Clark. But what really caught my ear was fingerpicker Bobby Howe's version which really had some nice harmony to my ear. Hope you Chet fans like it!

Wow! Great playing. And your tone was excellent, too. Thanks for posting this.

Rich, that was nice and smooth and clean. I liked his creativity and technique.

I figured you'd like it Rande. You and he are alot alike in your playing. Probably not super speedsters but know how to throw in interesting harmony and are precise in your playing.

Thanks, Rich. I appreciate your assessment of my precision. i like it to clean and smooth. As they say, "cleanliness is next to Godliness".I agree about my speed. I'd love to have the speed and precision of Scotty Anderson. That takes a particular type of nervous system...lol.

I liked that. Beautiful tone on that guitar. Even had a couple Chet licks in there.

I kind of wondered why he didn't use a thumb pick.

I realized today that there is a snare drum keeping time as Bobby plays. It seems to start and stop with him. Do you guys think that he has a human drummer? Can this be achieved with some combination of equipment and programming, I mean existing auto drummers. Thanks.

That was actually very, VERY nice. Deacon Jones was surely rattling his bones over that arrangement!

I recognized a couple Chet licks in there. One sounded like a lick he used in Knee Action.

Doug, you mentioned "Knee Action". As you probably noticed, that has some very tricky timing while keeping the thumb steady. I remember playing it years ago and learning it with a metronome so that it didn't sound "jerky". By the way, it was the first song I ever heard Phil Hunt play when I first met him back in the mid 90's
