Ragtime Guitar - 'A Bag of Rags'

Postby TonyRowden » Sun Jan 08, 2017 10:05 am

Just got round to recording a ragtime piece I arranged years ago - mainly because it was too difficult to play back then.

This is 'A Bag of Rags' written by W. R. McKanlass' in 1912 and played on my Gretsch Honey Dipper G9202.

It's a great guitar. Had it a few weeks and can't put it down. Thanks for your comment Roger!

That was great! Could listen to that all day - I love guitar rags. They are very tricky to play that's for sure!

Well done!

I couldn't help but notice the "dissonance" at the beginning of each phrase and am very impressed with the efficiency of your movements and how you handle your right hand!

Thank you! That dissonance is played as split notes in the piano original. That didn't work on the guitar but it made that section more interesting.
