Paul Galbraith - Recuerdos de la Alahambra

Postby smokymtguitar09 » Mon Dec 13, 2010 6:28 pm

Roger Pratt linked me to this amazing eight string player with a unique style. He has a sound box on the floor (out of sight in this video) connected by a rod to the back end of the guitar that apparently acts as a passive amplifying device. Very interesting.

Thanks,
Ronnie Evans

He needs to slap a Prismatone pickup on that 8-string and start pickin' some Jerry Reed tunes. Just kidding.

That was interesting watching him play like that. You have to know where your left hand is without being able to see it.

He plays beautifully. I'd like to hear him in person some day. His performance is a reminder that all classical players don't play exactly as written on paper. John

A very unorthodox way of playing. Incredible.

Here is a link to picture of the entire guitar rig, with the stand attached to soundbox on the floor:

Great performance and a new way to hold the guitar. I never saw that method before. I wonder if his left hand ever falls asleep after practicing for an extended period of time. Thanks for posting. I'm anxious to review more of his playing on youtube.
