I recently stumbled upon a *terrific* young player, Emil Ernebro, on youtube that I've never read about on the Chetboard. If all here are familiar with him, disregard the following:
Start here with Emil's take on "Nine Pound Hammer" (and hold on to your seat!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWdcJ_tvYqE
and "That's Alright Mama" (wow!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3FsZ6MTGrU
Now his version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (can you spell "versatile"?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnS1N9w30-k
and here with Tommy Emmanuel doing "Fly Me to the Moon."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cyofxo274M
And while I'm a regular CAAS attendee (along with many of my Tab Pig buds), I sure don't remember seeing him there. But here he is doing "Fly Me to the Moon" at CAAS 2011. (He's the one on the right btw! Was that at the
early morning open mic perhaps? No matter, Mark needs to get him on the regular schedule imo!)

Here's his website. Interesting bio. Went to music school in LA, et. al. http://www.emilernebro.com/
And under "Emil's Guitar School" he offers up a bunch of stuff. Tabs, video lessons, et.al. Also alot of free stuff.
I downloaded his "Open String Licks" video/tab and its one *heckuva* nice production and deal for $16. 48 licks in the style of Chet, Buster B., Tommy, etc. As an average bedroom player, I'll be working on it for months to come.
Great player....and we need more youngsters like him to keep the Chet/Jerry pickin' tradition alive!

...and fresh... not just a preservationist
don't get me wrong, we Need preservationists, youngsters to keep and maintain Chet/Jerry/Merle techniques but we also need guys like this who blends in other ideas

That should do it.

He was at CAAS 2 or 3 years ago and played several concerts. I caught him with his girl friend (a really good singer) in the stage II room. Excellent picker. Played a Maton TE model guitar.

Norm said,
*Absolutely* agree Norm! And in my opinion we need to see more of them on the main stage at CAAS *at night* versus
just the "usual suspects." No names for the latter so as not to offend...*terrific* players all... but CAAS needs to promote the younger players, especially the "preservationists" who also have "other ideas," by showcasing them much more often at night.

Guys, I totally agree with all of you. Emil is a fantastic player in every aspect. But he's not the only exceptional fingerstyle guitarist in Sweden. There's a 19 year old girl named Gabriella Quevedo who has made great success world wide already. Her recording of The Eagles 'Hotel California' has been viewed over 10 million times on Youtube! Not bad for a 19 year old!
Here's a sample from Youtube where she and Emil Ernebro plays Tommy Emmanuels arrangement of 'Waltzing Mathilda' live on stage. Enjoy!

What a fantastic picker - I haven't touched a steel string acoustic for as long as I can remember, but Emil's just made we want to give it a go again. Put me in mind of Martin Tallstrom, another very talented exponent of the art of the thumb.
Apologies if this has already been posted, but Stump Water is one of my favourite Reed instrumentals, so I particularly enjoyed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5wCTK-WA9o
