I picked up the new Gretsch catalog yesterday and was sorry to see the 6122 -1958 Country Gent and the 6120 -CGP Chet Atkins Stereo guitar are discontinued.

It's too bad they've stopped making them, but you can still find a used one every now and then. Here's a link to a Guitar Center used guitar which has a CGP. Sometimes deals pop up. I hate to see production end on both of these models, though...they're both great options in the Gretsch Chet Atkins series.

That is sad - hopefully they don't do that with the 59 reissue. If anyone is interested I am selling my CGP guitar. It has a few mods including a tone control, Sta-Tuned device and Tru Arc bridge. If someone were interested from the Chetboard, I could lower the price a bit since I wouldn't have to pay Reverb.com. Message me if your interested.

Thanks guys!

Well, they are in business to make money and if a model stops selling there is no point in making them.

The 6120CGP, if I remember correctly, was thought to be a limited run guitar anyway. When Chet and Ray Butts wired up the first one it was set up to be a "secret weapon" recording guitar. The "stereo guitar" idea was not what they were looking for. Jimmie Webster pushed for that with the "project-o-sonic white falcons.

Paul liked the 6120CGP for its scale length and it ended up being his favorite guitar in his last days.

I would be surprised if they discontinued the 6122-59. It is one of the best new items offered to the guitaring public but you never know with The Suits.

The Chet people are dying out and the 6122 double cut aka the 'george harrison' guitar is what people have imprinted in their memories
...that's how it looks to me...The opinion expressed above is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of this station. Your mileage may vary...

That should do it.
