I respect Craigs decision not to post here anymore. He didn't say why and I'm okay with that. I'm not going to assume it's because of the speed of posting or guess why.

I think Norm is right about the reason. It's a shame that someone like this could harm the greatest resource for all things Chet. I'm sure he and his followers are doing a victory dance now. I also think Tom's hands may be tied, but regardless the long delay in getting something posted is detrimental. I don't know the answer. Probably as soon as any requirements are lifted then the trolls will be back in full force, and with a vengeance this time.

Paul's absence is a big hole to fill. A hole that is impossible to fill, actually, because he was our last best resource to accurate information about Chet, the main reason we congregate here. I know many of us on here had strong personal feelings for Paul and I know for me personally it has made it hard to come up with something interesting to say here.

At any rate, I am grateful to Chet's estate for allowing this board to be created in the first place, and especially to Tom for his efforts in maintaining the board. A tremendous responsibility and a thankless one at that. I have adored Chet and his music since I was a very small boy, and I have made every effort to follow him and find out everything I could about him and the way he made his music. For me, getting to know Paul and become close friends with him has been something that I couldn't have dreamed up. Paul was such a wealth of knowledge and one of the kindest, most gentle men I have ever known. His loyal friendship is something I will never forget.

So, if this is Sayonaro, I want to say thanks to the many friends I have made on here. You all have enriched my life, and I am grateful.

Gratefully,
Richard

Very sad to see Craig depart the CB. I agree with the others re: the delay setting, but can offer no constructive opinion as to how to handle the offensive posts that may have caused the "lock down". I've been on here for quite a few years and made it to a couple of the CAAS and I'll miss "lurking" thru the volumes of info available on this board. It has been an invaluable asset to have available and great fun to share the respect and admiration we have for the man and legacy of Chet Atkins. Frankly, I'll probably back away from the board as well because of the lack of interaction and change in atmosphere. The rigidity of the new rules (although understandable) have sucked the life out of the board. Thanks to those who have kept it going all these years. I hope this same kind of thing doesn't infect or affect the CAAS. Peace, out!

I hate to hear that Craig won't be posting anymore. His keen insights will definitely be missed.

I doubt that the chief malcontent responsible for the approval delay and his small band of followers are doing any kind of victory dance. I doubt their primary purpose was to disrupt the Chetboard. I believe the chief malcontent's purpose was to "scoot his way into Chet's shadow" as another poster summed it up on a different thread. Of course the Chetboard was disrupted in the process but the their shenannigan backfired on them ( and backfired far worse in Nashville this past Summer from what I've heard!)

As far as the blue guitar entourage crashing the convention again, I'd say being escorted out by the entire security staff probably got the message across loud and clear.

I'm really surprised more has not been said about CAAS Debacle 2014 here on the Chetboard. I'm sure most of us are content to just let sleeping dogs lie but I can only speculate on whether or not any posts were attempted by the blue guitar entourage designed to victimize the chief malcontent who demanded to be allowed to step straight onto the stage and villianize the Director and security staff for promptly showing every one of them the door.
