Can it get any better than this? If I understand correctly this tune was written for Eddie by Paul Yandell cgp and Eddie named it in honor of Merle. Written by one of the greats, played by one of the greats, and named in honor of one of the greats. How could it be any better? I love this tune!

I like that tune and the way Eddie does it so much like Merle would have done it. EP also did it at one of the CMHOF programs. It's on youtube somewhere. I couldn't tell offhand if this was the same setting; looked different. I liked the CMHOF program and watch it once in a while. LMark

OK, Mark... I think I've got the melody verse: D, D7, G, Gm, D, E, G, A, D....
But, the bridge??
G, A, D....
(?) E, Bb, A
G, A, (?) D, Db, C, B)
E....., A
Am I close??

Hi Palmer. I worked it out a while back. But I haven't touched a guitar for about five months now. I must attend to other things for a while. Maybe Eddie would share the chords? Will I get in too much trouble if I holler "Eddie! You out there?" Best, LMark

I'll ask him in person next week out at the Travis Center for Merle Day, Mark. Haven't played your guitar for months??? It must be something serious for you not to play at all. Palmer

It's hard to come up with a song that we know in advance will be "catchy" but this one was!

Re: Eddie Pennington Plays Merle's Dance
I enjoy it so much I keep coming back and playing it on my computer. Does Eddie P. have an album available with that tune on it? I have a couple of his other CD's but "Merle's Dance" is not on them. Thanks.
