Close, but no cigar.

What would really be a find would be the old versions, the ones in the round plastic boxes. Whoever made those went out of business I understand

I'm sure these strings are good strings but I think they were made up as a lot by D'Addarion at the request of gretsch for the big Atkins HOF extravaganza they had a year or so ago.

Price certainly seems worthy of notice, though, and I doubt your listeners could tell the difference

That should do it.

Thanks for posting this, Chuck!
I went ahead and ordered a box of each gauge. I can use them on my 3 electric guitars and maybe give away a few sets to my relatives that play guitar.

I bought some of them once but they didn't seem as bright as D'Addario XL15's and seemed to get out of tune easily, maybe it was just a fluke..I don't know. Al

My guitar strings arrived today! I was a bit surprised that they were loose sets. I was expecting them to be in boxes of 10. I ordered 20 sets. I've been using therm shortly after they came out. I didn't use therm at first because they were $25 A set! They came out in about 2008. (That's the copyright date on therm.)
They are made by D'Addario, who makes the best strings in my opinion. Sure they aren't the same strings as the old round plastic box sets, but sometimes I think we look back at things through rose colored glasses.
If they ever quit making these I'll just go back to using D'Addario strings again. One thing for sure, you can stick up on these Chet Atkins strings at a bargain price right now!

Al,
They are more mellow sounding than the XL115's, because the Chet Atkins strings are pure nickel wrapped. The XL115's are nickel plated steel, so they have a brighter tone. I'm not sure why you works have had tuning problems with the Chet strings.
