Did Paul have to pay for his Gibson Country Gents or did Gibson give them to him as they did with Chet? PAS.

He never bought any of them. They gave him all of the gibsons he had and played throught the years.

Paul's thick body Gibson Gent is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever laid my eyes on.

Phil, I remember that Waymon Vickery of Chattanooga had an identical one built at the same time as Paul's. I don't know if he still has it, but yes it was a beauty. As far as I know that was the only two that Gibson ever built, unless someone knows of another. The photo of the guitar is on the cover of his Paul's original "Fingerstyle Legacy" instructional book and video.

Paul's Fingerstyle Legacy is such a great teaching course. Paul sounded perfect on that and his delivery style was perfect too. The Gibson sounded super and of course it was all in the hands.

Ronnie....I do know that there was at least 1 more Paul Yandell model that was sold to Robbie Jones a good friend of Paul's from Glasgow, Ky. I don't remember who sold it to Robbie but I was there at Paul's table when Robbie got it and it was a really remarkable guitar in great condition. Robbie did some body work on Chet's Blazer when Paul owned it. I haven't seen Robbie for several years now. I hope he and his family are all well.

I remember Robbie as well, and I was at CAAS when he got the "Paul Yandell" deep-body Gibson CG. Like Roger said, it was a beautiful guitar. That may have been my first trip to CAAS in 2006, and I'm pretty sure that Paul knew where the guitar was and helped Robbie find it. There was some discussion as to how many were made, and I think that there were more than just the two. I want to say maybe 4 to 7 were made, but my old-fart memory has slept too many times since then. I'm also thinking that Robbie's guitar was for sale not too very long ago, but I don't know that he sold it. I really enjoyed visiting with Robbie back then, and I could see why Paul thought so much of him.
