Hello all,
Does anyone know which bridge goes into a 1975 Super Chet? Is there a model number and are any still available? Thanks for your help.
Re: Which bridge in a Super Chet?
It was a tuneomatic bridge with aluminum adjustable inserts on an ebony wooden base. They used pretty much the same one on Country Gents, Nashville's, Tennessean, etc. They quit using the bar bridge somewhere in the early 70's and went to the tuneomatic, I think they did it to compete with gibson which used them on all their guitars. The bar bridge became almost obsolete. I see them for sale on ebay every so often. Al

My Super Chet bridge is different than a Country Gentleman it is wider and so is the base they are also very hard to find the reason I know is I was having my bridge replated with gold and they lost it after much looking I found one a blackrider guitars the last one they had used they don't make any after markets that I know of.

I thought they were the same, they sure looked similiar. I see them on ebay from time to time. I used to have some extras but I sold them or something.I wish Gretsch would rebuild the Super Chet, not like they did before but like it really was, same with the Country Gentleman, period colors and design. I liked the Super Chet but it didn't sustain very well up and down the neck, and the neck to body made it difficult to have a bigsby. There wasn't enough downpressure on the bridge. But it sure was pretty with all that abalone on the neck, and binding in the center of the sides! How Cool! Al I have a red Super Axe that I really like, I think it is so cool and its 70's USA in mint condition! Al
