Recording with iPhone/SmartPhone?

Postby LMark » Mon Feb 17, 2014 11:31 pm

Does anyone here have experience using an iPhone or SmartPhone +App for laying down basic tracks? I hear that the handheld digital industry is collapsing under the weight of these newer technologies. I am looking for an easy/simple method to record (accumulate) high-quality tracks for review and production at a later date. I hate to invest in a pocket recorder if that technology is really being replaced for good by iPhones, etc. I do not want to go to the trouble of hooking into a computer or board, blah, blah, blah. Pocket recorder technology is at the point-and-shoot state, so all that stuff is not necessary. My only requirements are (a) studio-quality sound, (b) overdubbing, (c) tuner, (d) metronome -- all in one device. You can get that in something like the Yamaha Pocketrack PR7, but it's already discontinued.

Thx, LMark
