Chet's '61 CG

On page 89 of Chet's "Me & My Guitars is a photo of the '61 CG standing in front of the Standel Amp. My question is this: What are the two "jack socket" like holes - one immediately behind the bridge and the other to the left of the Gretsch logo on the Bigsby.

That's one of the few typos in that book.
That is his 59

Those two odd holes were for a string pulling pedal assembly he had for a very brief period.

Thanks Norm. Also thanks for pointing out that it was the '59 and not the '61 - that puzzled me a bit as well.

checking the serial number at gretschpages serial number site puts the guitar squarely in the 1959 run
