I always wondered if Jack Parson's thick body Bigsby guitar is the same guitar that was in Merle's 1940's soundies....anybody know?

There was a thread about it some years back and it was definitely cited that Travis borrowed the guitar for the clip

I don't know about the guitar but I sure enjoyed that old clip. Travis just seemed at his very best and I loved his playing and his band.

Yes, it is the same guitar. Originally it was a hollowbody Kay that Bigsby totally rebuilt. You can read everything about it, or everything about any Bigsby standard guitar, here at Deke Dickerson's incredible blog:
