Another capo question

OK, I threw out my capo question about "Freight Train," but now I'm going to go WAY back in Chet's career. Do any of you have an opinion on whether or not he used a capo on his first record, the Bullet 78 single "Guitar Blues (Pickin' the Blues)?" I think he did use a capo at the 3rd fret so that he could play out of A, and have it sound like he was playing out of the key of C. The only slight video evidence I have of this is that he reworked the song and played it as "Pickin' the Blues" on those Opry-style segments filmed on 35mm film in the 1950s -- he did play part of it out of the key of A, and some of his guitar lines were very similar to the Bullet recording. Please let me know if any of you might have any thoughts on this.
