Great pics, Phil!
I remember that year at CAAS. Wow! Those Sand guitars that Kirk brought are about the nicest that I've seen or played. That nylon model was perfect IMO. Paul was pickin' some of his best stuff ever. It's just not the same without him.

Thanks for keeping Paul before us, Phil. I know I am just one of many, but I miss Paul terribly. He was such a very good friend to all of us that loved Chet's music. Those are good pictures of a good person.
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Pictures I took of Paul Yandell
Thanks so much for posting these photos of Paul. I enjoying looking at pictures like this and remembering the great concerts at the C.A.A.S. and a few times when I saw Chet and Paul in concert. I was surfing the vintage guitar places and I found this Kirk Sand guitar at Gruhn's. Is this the one that Paul is playing? It says it was owned and played by Paul. The listing is under miscelaneous hollow body guitars at Gruhn's listings. Here is the link to the photo. Click on the photo to enlarge it and you can see Paul's name engraved on the neck.

The Sands listed on Gruhns is not the guitar in the picture. A friend of his got the guitar that is listed, that gentleman has since pasted away. Probably his family selling it.

It's a real shame someone would sell a good guitar like that Sand at Gruhn's. Especially if it belonged to Paul. Boy that's a real nice one! I mean, Gretsch's come and go, you can always get another one....but Kirk's stuff is top notch custom made and play like butter. Pricey....but play really nice.
If I had that guitar...I'd never....ever....let it go.

I know Phil, that guitar belong to Kenny Winkler! We still have all of daddy's guitars except for one we gave to Steve right after daddy pasted, something we had talked about, mom, daddy and I. Everything else is still in place, all the guitars are doing well and are safe... I see them often, all have been documented for future projects down the line.

I could never do it justice, but I sure would love to have it if I could afford it. It would be wonderful to just play it, much less own it. I'd never sell it, that's for sure.

I have a Strat that Paul put together and I treasure it. I don't brag about much but I do about that!
