Amazing Grace (In 3 Styles)

Postby keener » Sun Oct 17, 2010 1:51 pm

I've probably played Amazing Grace in dozens of different styles over the years -- many of you have, too. Today I decided to record it as a medley of 3 styles. The first and third styles draw heavily from Chet's recordings, and the middle style is sort of a Jerry Reed or blues-ish style.

I hope you enjoy at least one of the styles.

If you like it well enough to give it a thumbs up, you can do so via the following link (may require that you have a YouTube or Gmail account)

Of course, if you want to give it a thumbs down, you can just pretend you didn't see the link. Okay? Okay.

To steal from Dr. Watson, Amazing, Bruce, simply amazing. I wish I could play that song like you but my version is simply not amazing and is, in fact, rather nondescript. And to think I actually spent money on a Gretsch so I could play like you and all the others on the Board (palm slap forehead here). KOPAP. Billy

Thank you very much, Bill and Billy.

Billy, you should never beat yourself up (you've "lectured" me on it).

Take care guys and thanks again

Hi Bruce,

I've not been online here as much lately because of substitute teaching, both looking for new appointments and fulfilling them. I decided to come back here and "catch up" and saw your new YouTube post. You did a very nice job. You seem to have nice control, as I watch both hands. What I probably like the most is your creative "musical mind". That can't really be taught or learned, only enhanced in proportion of one's natural ability. Thanks for the rendition!

Keep em coming Bruce. Keep em coming! Not just anyone can take a tune like that we've heard so many times and make it sound so fresh and interesting. That says something about your arranging skills.

I also left a comment on the G string post but it didn't go through. Maybe I was subconciously thinking about certain people wearing those things and that caused me to hit the wrong button on the keypad. Nice work on the other video as well even though it may indirectly contributed to the delinquency of an overgrown juvenile on a subconcious level!!

Thanks very much Bill. Good to hear from you and I hope you are well.
