I'll See You In My Dreams

Postby rhudson » Sun Oct 28, 2012 9:41 am

Just a little ditty to pay tribute to the great Merle Travis - and Chet, of course. I am told that Merle Travis always closed his shows with this tune. He pretty well set the trend on how it should be played fingerstyle, and of course Chet added his own touch to his own arrangement. But it is a dandy and we all like to play it.

The guitar is the Nashville Classic played through my 25L15 amp. The "other" guitar is my G&L Legacy played through the same amp. I really love this amp - more every day.

I want to dedicate this to the memory of my dear friend, Paul Yandell. Paul's arrangement was outstanding too.

Richard, that was excellent. You really have a great touch and the arrangement was great. I sure admire that version and your playing.

I really liked it and it conjured in my mind, Merle's and Chet's version, having never heard Paul's version of this nice tune.

I really appreciate you all listening. This tune took on a whole new meaning for me. When Paul and I would talk, one or the other of us would ask if we were writing any new tunes or working on any new arrangements. I will never forget one day I asked Paul if he was working on anything new and he told me he was working on a new arrangement of "I'll See You In My Dreams." Not long after that someone put a video together with a power point presentation of Paul's life with him playing that tune in the background. I really miss him. My life has been enriched by his friendship and I am a better guitar player because of him.
