Suggestion for possible upgrade for Chetboard....

Postby George Beasley » Thu Oct 18, 2012 7:48 pm

Tom,

Would it be possible to add a button to each post (like the "!" Report button, or the "Quote" button) that will allow a reader to express "Thanks" for a post? I've seen this on freestompboxes.org, and I like the way it allows someone to be able to express their gratitude for a post, without cluttering the thread with a bunch of posts that don't add to the content.

Not sure how hard it would be, but it really seems to be a nice feature.
Thanks,
George

I will look at the site you referenced and ask the fellow who helped me when this version of the board went live, to see if phpBB has something similar.

Hello Tom,
I have for a long time enjoyed being able to participate at your website which you call the “Chetboard,” not realizing until now that this endeavor belongs to you personally and is totally controlled by what pleases just one person, you. Evidently, I insulted you and you personally have chosen to ban me from your board. So be it. Thank you for past opportunities. I've enjoyed being able to participate but apparently I now have no option but to move on due to your personal choice concerning me.
So long,
Art Sims

I so enjoy Art's posts and links to the hymns that he plays so beautifully. That being said, I truly hope that this is simply a misunderstanding or an error that can be corrected.

Art
I don't think Tom has banned you. I mean your post showed up.
If you were banned you wouldn't be able to post.
I am not being rude I just know that when forums ban someone they can't post anything.

Seems like a misunderstanding.

Art, I have no idea what you posted that could have caused a problem but I agree with Eddie. We can all read your "good bye". Keep posting and I hope this grows again! I appreciate Tom's efforts to restore some of what we once had!

Every once in a while we all need to take a break...

It's not too difficult to type something that can be misunderstood. Or posted with the sudden realization that maybe you shouldn't have said it.

I can remember when Paul used to post here every once in a while he'd send me an email telling me he was going to stay off the board for a while because either people or lines of thought were irritating him. He would often say he was done with it all but he always came back on to answer more questions.

Best remedy is to go play some guitar...

That should do it.

Another person who repeatedly said he was "leaving the board for good" and always returned, was Jack Baker. However, he might have been serious the last time!
