Ooooooohh Phil! You made my day! Good gracious, what a rare treat. With Jerry's thumbing, it sounds so different. "I love it, I love it, I love it".

Phil, that was quite a find! How did you do it? Do you have others like this? I'd like to see him play a number of his songs that he never recorded. For instance, "A Little Bit of Blues" and "Drive In", just to name a few.

Can you imagine Chet, Paul, Jerry & Merle having the times of their lives in that beautiful paradise in heaven jamming away....that's what I thought right away when I got this new clip. Thanks to my buddy Andrew in the U.K. for this clip!
Jerry was a genius...no doubt about it....this song is a sheer work of art. Chet knew a hit when he heard it!

Two things came to mind when I got this new clip:
1) I actually got to play the Baldwin Guitar that Jerry was playing in this video thanks to my hero Paul Yandell.
2) Notice that Jerry is not using the Labella Red trebles on the Baldwin. That leads me to believe, he didn't use them all the time.

Phil,
Big thanks for finding and posting this clip. This is the first time I've seen Jerry play Struttin'. I learned it from Chet's recording and then asked him a few questions. Then I played it for Jerry when we were proofing the Heavy Neckin' book, but Jerry didn't play it for me. I'll be up late tonight.

Wow. That's something I thought I'd never see. Great find Phil - a real piece of 'Jerry archaeology'. It's one of those pieces you just want to be able to play the moment you first hear it - so to see the man himself breeze through it is a treat indeed.
Chet called the pieces in Heavy Neckin' 'little gems of musical perfection' - not hard to see what he was talking about
Fabulous - thanks for sharing.
