Welcome to the new Chetboard!

Welcome to the new Chetboard! Have fun as we discuss the life and legacy of Chet Atkins, history's greatest guitar player. This new forum follows the first Chetboard which was maintained for several years by Doug Hendrix. Doug deserves a special thanks for the countless hours he spent customizing and maintaining the Chetboard. He also endured the slings and arrows as the forum moderator, a job that is often thankless. The moderator make decisions people sometimes do not like, and as thus they are often the target of people's ire when they are upset. But there is no doubt that Doug did an excellent job for which I will be eternally grateful.

The previous board utilized a program called WebBBS, which had not ben updated by its original programmers since 2002. The platform was dated, and vunerable to spam and hackers in a way that was not acceptable. I chose to keep the old format because of its simplicity and ease of use, and although Doug had suggested a few years ago we move to a PHP based board, I did not feel the time was right for the people who were using the Chetboard. But now is the time. Please be respectful of others and patient as we learn to navigate and use the new board. Our goal is to celebrate the life and music of Chet Atkins and to be respectful of each other in the process.

Best Regards,
Tom Redmond

Glad you liked it. I think their chicken is great and the greens and mac and cheese are worth the trip too.

Really like the look and feel of the new ChetBoard. Thanks to Tom and the others who have put this together and keep it going. A special thanks to Doug Hendrix and the labor of love he put into monitoring and maintaining the previous edition of this forum. Looking forward to many hours of "lurking" and learning from the great Chet fans who regularly and generously share their knowledge of Chet Atkins (#1 of course, Paul Yandell) and fingerstyle guitar.

Great job, thanks Tom and the others who put the new board in place. Thanks also to Doug for the thankless task of moderating over the years.
