I may be posting this JBL speaker on eBay soon, but before I do I am offering 'free USA shipping' in the price to anyone on the Chetboard. I recall that I paid $125 for the speaker several years ago to go in my Peavey Delta Blues amp, which is also for sale if anyone is interested. I suppose the shipping will run at least $25 depending on location.

Yes, I am into trying to down-size my gear.

Thanks,
Ronnie Evans

Ronnie,

I've considered getting a JBL or Weber JBL copy for a Peavey Delta Blues. Were you pleased with yours? I had a Peavey Delta Blues in the past, but only used the stock speaker. Was there a definite improvement with the JBL vs. the Peavey speaker?

Thanks,

Ronnie, what is the difference in the K130 and the D130? Just wondering.

Thanks,

Richard

Jeff and Richard,
For my preference the speaker made an overall improvement in the sound of the amp. There was an increase in the loudness due to the higher efficiency of the JBL. The JBL added a bit more weight to the amp, and I don't know what a Weber speaker weighs for comparison. Otherwise, I recommend the JBL as a replacement for your DB.

Richard, somewhere I have all the specs on both the K-130 and D-130. The major difference is the amount of power they handle. JBL developed a heavier voice coil while retaining the Alnico magnet and basically the same cone so the sound of the two is similar. The K-130's efficiency was improved slightly thus is a bit louder. JBL later developed the E-130 which used a difference magnet than the Alnico that affected the sound quite a bit but it would handle much more power to accommodate the more powerful guitar amps. I have used the E-120 speakers before and did not much like the sound as compared to the D and K series.

I might add that I installed a JBL K-120 in my Music Man RD-50 amp and I'm very pleased with it despite the extra weight. The RD-50 is a lightweight to begin with so the extra weight is not a problem. I use a small luggage cart & bungee cord from Walmart to roll it and other heavier amps around, and I'm careful how I lift them as well....you know, lift with your legs not your back.

Thanks
