Some Chet videos I've never seen before

Postby Tony Enamel » Wed May 04, 2011 3:21 pm

Hello everybody,

here are three "new" Chet videos from Youtube, which I've never seen before, two of them with Steve Wariner. Especially the one with Chet playing Banjo is very laid back.

Enjoy!

He's pretty good but he's no Granpa Jones.

Actually, he plays pretty decent banjo. It's not as easy as it looks.

I always loved the Sound Chet got out of that Gibson acoustic. I remember back in the 80's I was visiting my Uncle (also a big Chet fan), and Chet was performing on Nashville Now on tv while I was there and he played the Beatles Medley on that same guitar(Earl Klugh was also a guest on the show). After I saw that show and the Austin City Limits show he did with Tom Bresh I WAS HOOKED FOREVER. It was the first real time I saw Chet perform on tv.
After my dad and my uncle watched that Nashville Now Show my uncle took us in his music room and took out this nice black guitar case case with a diamond like pattern on it. He opened it up and took out his '68 Gretsch Country Gentlemen-he still has it to this day. It is still in MINT PRISTINE CONDITION and looks like it's never been played.
He knew I loved Chet's music so much and everytime he would come visit he would bring his Gretsch so I could play it. I would play that thing for hours pretending to be Chet. My uncle also has an old echoplex and I would plug that into his Peavey Session 400 amp and try and play "Snowbird". Those were the good ol days.

Wonderful memories, Phil.

You mean this performance?

That's a great collection of videos featuring Chet's Gibson J-30E! Thanks for posting these Tony. I believe Pat Bergeson owns that guitar now.

It's interesting to watch Chet move his right hand around to change the tone at different places within the song.

That guitar sounds real nice. I wonder what kind of pickup it had in it.
