A tune I wrote today in memory of my late wife, Vickie Lynn Keener:

I can emphasize with you almost fully. My wife passed away over a year ago now and I wish I could compose a tune to help me in my grief. I wish I could play Roy Lanham's "We will meet again" as it seems to hit a sad chord in me (no pun intended) but for now I can play Chet Atkin's "Waltz for the lonely" well enough to help me out. Keep them coming Bruce.

Sincerely,
Rich Irvine

Hi Rich,

I am very sorry for your loss. When I think back to the first few years after Vickie passed away, I don't think my composing tunes for her helped me very much ... if anything, the tunes may have just amplified the grief. So I wouldn't worry that no compositions have "come to you" at this point.

I do think that anything that you play with love or reverence or thoughtfulness can be done as a tribute to your wife.

Take care
Bruce

Bruce, a lovely tune but it had to be with the inspiration for writing it. Thanks for posting. Billy

Thank you, Billy. You're sure right: anything pretty that comes from me comes from some source other than my flawed head ... that's for sure.
