Arkansas Traveler - my latest video

Postby Taffy White » Tue Feb 28, 2017 3:42 am

Hey all, I've always loved this arrangement By Chet but never got around to working it out till now so thought you might like to take a look. I use the 6120 on this mainly for ease of thumb access over the top of the thinner neck (In comparison to my Super Chet) which is needed to play some sections properly. Unless you have a huge thumb that is

FYI I learnt this off the youtube video of Chet's original studio recording. The good thing with YT is you can slow down the vids to half & quarter speed without affecting the pitch of the music. Very handy.

Hope you enjoy :)

Paul.

P.S. Still haven't worked out how to embed the video in the post.

Paul, I hadn't heard from you in a while so it was nice to see you here again! I can tell that listened very carefully to Chet's arrangement of that. Often in parts of his arrangments he'll play a chord over a bass note that isn't the root and I'll hear people playing the root anyway and I've always wondered if they just didn't notice that? Anyway, there's some of that at the beginning of this and you nailed it! The same is true for the intro to "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To". I seldom hear that done correctly. The bottom line is that you have a good ear!

Thanks!

Thanks Andrew and Rande, glad to hear you enjoyed it. Rande I know what you mean about not playing the root note, you don't have to and a lot of times it's more interesting not to. You mentioned " You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To", I remember that one but haven't heard it in years. I'm going to have to take another listen.
