I suppose "Red Wing" was a common enough name among those folk.

"Why did you ask, Two Dogs Fighting?" :D

That was great...I really enjoyed your playing. Great tone, too. I hadn't heard that song in quite awhile. Take care, Ray

OK, let me clear this little "thing" that's been questioning my brain for a number of years about Chet's playing of this tune. I "borrowed" the tune off the recording from the Galloping Guitar 4 CD set from the Bear Family years ago that I bought at CAAS when I first started going some 18 years ago. (It's not government issue - but, it should be in every serious Chet lover's collection.) I never have heard (don't think) the recording that you guys have been talking about. In the recording off GG Chet played a bunch of "half-step up" dims and many more passing chords. I didn't hear Guy play any of them. Super pickin, but just basically a four chord song with a couple +s added at the end of phrases.

These are the chords I hear: A, C#m, D, Ebdim, A, (A w/ Bb in base), Bm, E, A, F#m, B, E (Don't fall in love with any of them - as this tune kicks right along. (lol)

Ok, first question: Am I dreaming? Are these kords really in there - or, am I hearing what I want to be in there?

So, what's yer problem, here, Palmer? Well, the only real problem is when I'm in a jam and start to play the overly complicated version I hear in my haed - when the other guys get it they turn it back into a 4 kord toon - and, SPEED IT UP to where I can't take it back!!

I"ll go back to ma' chair, now.....zzzzz Palmer

Here's the version I'm familiar with, from Session With Chet Atkins:

Yep, that is the one, Mark. Not my imagination. I just can't play it that fast with all those kord changes in there... (arg) (Larry has been quite the addition to CAAS the last few years!)

Brent,
You did it right! I must have learned it from the Session with Chet album or from my Uncle Ray? Old memories fade the facts!
Thanks Vic Bateman
P.S Larry blew it away, great playing he must have heard Tommy Crook
