Johnny Smith Interview

Here is a nice, hour long interview with one of the all time guitar, and one of Chet's favorite players.

There is not a lot of footage of Johnny on the Internet, so this is priceless.

George, thank you for posting this. So many pearls of guitar wisdom in this video, from one of the very best. At about the 30-minute point, Johnny shows his technique of gradually adding harmony to a melody line in his arrangement of "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair", which John Knowles later adapted on one of his albums and in his Fingerstyle Quarterly #31. This is one terrific video!

George, this is a great find. When I was in high school, I took a lesson with Johnny. I don't remember everything but as I watch this video, so much seems familiar. I've watched it several times now and I get something new each time. John

Thanks, George! One thing that caught me unexpectedly was Johnny's voice. I had never heard it before. I had always imagined something different. Great information too!
