Don't try to match with the master ...

Postby Tony Enamel » Tue Nov 23, 2010 2:30 pm

Hi everybody,

with all due respect to the numerous fine fingerstylists out there, I think the following video shows why Tommy Emmanuel is the master today and deserves to be one of the CGPs.

Enjoy!

Surely that fellow was iust using reverse psychology on Tommy. He couldn't have really thought there was something Tommy couldn't play on the guitar!

He can play beautifully, he can play hot, and with him switching between single note lines and harmony is more of continuous thing rather than switching gears and playing single notes or chordal. Chet was that way seamlessly blending nice harmony usually in rolls and single note lines when improvising. Richard Smith is another one who can seemingly "do it all".

Tommy is one of the best guitar players alive. Everything he plays very well, and some are untouchable. He plays with visible emotion and you can also hear it in his playing. Chet didn't show a lot of emotion when he played but you could certainly feel it and hear it.
