Reading the latest issue of Acoustic Guitar, I looked up more on Eric Thompson. Found a site and then blindly clicked this audio file:

I'm guessing this is some old tune that provided the basis for Terry On The Turnpike from the Best of Friends album?

It certainly has a similar feeling and pattern.

On Nokie Edwards' Pickin' It Up CD the lead tune is called "Salt Creek" and it is the same tune as "Terry on the Turnpike" from the Chet and Friends album. This may be one of those tunes that is just known by different names.

Sounds like Paddy On The Turnpike.

I'm pretty sure that in one of Chet's videos he says that the song was originally called Paddy on the Turnpike and that he renamed it

I found the video, but it's not on YouTube any more. Chet and Boots were on Ralph Emery's show, and when Ralph asked about the tune, Chet said the tune was "Paddy on the Turnpike" and that he renamed it.
