How Great Thou Art!

My folks had one Chet record in the house when I was growing up in the sixties. (I think Chet had a green sweater on the cover.) In the eighties my brother introduced my wife and me to the smooth stuff - Sails, Leather and Lace, etc. This led me to begin to explore all kinds of guitar music and eventually to the Fingerpickers CD around 1998 which I put my kids to bed with each night. (Little did I know that Chet and Tommy were wiring my kids' brains to love melody!)

Along the way I bought a few of the Wood & Steel records. I have a home video of my then 2-year-old son Jameson in a diaper and sombrero dancing to Clint Black's version of The Claw. In 2002 my first-born, Ben, began to play. In 2005 we met Tommy here in San Diego and made our first trip to CAAS. Those two events were life changing for us. We met all sorts of nice people, made some dear friends, and our kids were inspired as never before by seeing incredible players in person.

Meanwhile on that 1998 Wood & Steel CD, Vince Gill and Amy Grant did a really nice version of How Great Thou Art. Ben covered it yesterday. I hope you enjoy it. http://vimeo.com/90726777

I really like it, Phil! I met Ben a few years back at CAAS, and he sure seems like a good guy, too.
Very nice music!
