Trambone, Duane Eddy Style

Postby Richard Hudson » Sat Jan 25, 2014 8:42 pm

I have had a blast recording this tune today. I did it with my G6120DE Duane Eddy model Gretsch through my Twin Custom 15 with lots of reverb. I am planning on doing a Chet version some time in the near future, but I had some ideas on this one, so it got first treatment. I hope you like it.

Richard,
I loved it! Sounds like you were having fun and it's great to hear some new twists on these tunes. The guitars sounded great and I loved the reverb. I'm guessing there's a strat in there? How did you do the drum part? It's cool too. Now I want to go test ride a DE model.
Thanks for posting.

Gary, there is lots of reverb, on purpose. I don't mean to sound like an expert on Duane's sound, because it is unique to him only, but part of that uniqueness is lots of reverb. I used my Fender Twin Custom 15 to get more of that "twang" sound. I dialed in some spring reverb from the amp as well as adding Lexicon Big Plate reverb from the recording software. The "strat" is a G&L Legacy, which is a strat type guitar. The "drum" was a little cardboard box with my hands/fingers tapping on it like bongos. Pretty sophisticated, huh?

Thanks,
Richard

Richard,
Thanks. It came together great. G&L has some nice guitars and I'm sorry I sold my G&L tele version a few years ago.
