Ray...

One of two things probable...lots of possible.

1. He changed his mind about selling it. He either wasn't getting the bids he thought he would and chickened out or he just changed his mind and wanted to keep it (he has quite a bit of feed back so I am sure he is aware a lot of the action comes in the last 5 minutes)

2. (most probable) Someone offered him a decent price to end the auction. Always a good thing because eBay fees are outrageous for the price range this guitar would have ended at. All he has to pay now is a "listing" fee which was a couple bucks.

Thanks, Jay. I was not aware that you could just change your mind in the middle of an Ebay auction which had some bids and there was no reserve....in other words, it would have sold. That would be really disappointing if I had been bidding. I've bought and sold quite a few things on Ebay, but I had no idea that you could do that. I guess I need to read up on the "rules" again.
Thanks again for the info.
Ray

Thanks for the post. I had one of these older Gibson Country Gents - a 1987 Custom Shop version. The body was a little too large for my comfort and it was quite heavy. I sold it through Gruhn's before I began to use Ebay. I used some of the money to get a 1990 Gibson Tennessean, which I really like and use all the time. I initially posted this because I thought some one on the board might be interested, but that went awry when the seller stopped the auction. I appreciate the info, though. Thanks again.
Take care,
Ray

I was partially thinking of another thread started March 25 by ChetKid 91 regarding the pricing of a Gibson CG. It seems a price of $ 3 000 may possibly be obtained with some luck.

Looks like that one sold for $1805.00. A no reserve auction.
