I thought I would post a photo of my Chet Atkins guitar string collection, now that I have it displayed in a shadow box:
This is a whole lot cheaper than collecting guitars! LOL

Re: Chet Atkins Guitar String Collection
those brown roundbox 672's were great strings. For a long time they were made in Germany

Re: Chet Atkins Guitar String Collection
I never got the chance to try any of the old ones from round plastic box era. I started playing in 1976. I got my first
Gretsch in 1977. The Gretsch strings in the center of my display on the bottom row are the strings that I used back then. I'm using the new Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Style strings in the flat pack. I really like them. I know people have strong opinions about strings and others don't care as long as they're cheap. I don't mind paying $10 a set for these with free shipping.

Re: Chet Atkins Guitar String Collection
Here's my newest string package to ad to my collection. I've never seen one like this before. I bought it on Ebay and thought I was getting just a single string that came out of a flat-pack set. To my surprise when it arrived it was a sealed single string made to hang on a peg-board at the music store! Does anyone remember seeing a Gretsch Chet Atkins string packaged like this? I wonder when these were on the market? I'm guessing just after the round plastic box?
I need to buy a bigger shadow box to display my Chet Atkins guitar string collection in: (sorry this photo is a little blurry)

Re: Chet Atkins Guitar String Collection
I happily discovered another Gretsch Chet Atkins guitar string set that I hadn't seen before on Ebay. My guess is that they are from the late 70's. I'll have more details when they arrive. I was really glad to add these to my collection of Chet Atkins strings.
The gauges are: .011, .015, .020w, .030w, .040w, .052w.
