Fender makes a neat little unit that's all in one. The speakers detach from the amplifier. It looks like a big suitcase. I heard someone playing through one of them and it sounded pretty darn good.

That Fender unit that Phil is talking about is probably a good unit. I have never used one, but it sounds like it would do good. I have been using a Peavey Escort for the last few years. I have been very well pleased with it. It is fully self contained. It even has casters on it to make it very easy to handle. The only thing extra you carry is the mic stands. The mics, cables, etc. store inside the unit. Mine cost me $600, but they are probably a little higher now.

Rick Allred told me that he likes the Yamaha StagePas. In fact, I think he uses one of the powered speakers for his guitar amp whenever he does small instrumental gigs. There are two models of the StagePas, and I'm not quite sure which one he uses. I'd probably just decide which one would work better for the type of usage I think I would need.

I think Tom Boyer uses that Fender rig and it sounds great. Ben uses the Fishman SoloAmp (SA220) and it really sounds awesome; very simple setup too. Got it at Sweetwater for 900 shipped with 2 year warrantee.
