Evolution of the preamps on the Gibson Chet Atkins nylon

Hello to all guys, I wanted to ask you some clarifications about
the preamp models used over the years on the gibson nylon ce / cec !!!
As you know I have a Gibson nylon ce of 1988 and this one has a preamp that uses an IC,
instead a my friend has a model of Gibson nylon cec dated 1991 that mounts a preamp with transistors!
Historically all this is correct?
Did not the preamp changes happen around 1995?
Thank you....!

Paolo.

Saluto Paolo, I have collected schematics of 3 versions of the CE-C preamp, I think from Al Baggetta's site: v. 1.1 is dated 1980 and features transistors, an un-numbered version dated 1981, also using transistors, and another un-numbered version dated 1995 which uses an IC. There may have been other versions, but I haven't seen any evidence of them. I hope this helps you.

Thanks Bill, my doubt is that in my instrument (1988)
there is mounted a more modern preamp, to the appearance,
of the one mounted in my friend's guitar (1991)!!!!!

Paolo.

My CE is a 1989 model and the preamps look the same as the picture of the 1988 model you posted. Mine has two control knobs, volume and tone. I know the later ones have three knobs. Maybe the controls changed when the preamps changed. Would seem to be likely.

Sorry, Paolo, my mistake. The 1981 version is the one with the IC, the 1995 version reverts to transistors. It's my understanding that somewhere along the line Ray Butts designed a better preamp, which I am assuming is the 1995 version, but I don't know for sure. My apologies for the confusion.

Ok Bill!!!!
Larry, the model of my friend of 1991 has only two pots but the transistor circuit,
so the update of the preamp is not related to the number of the pot !!!!

Grazie thanks anyway, all very useful information!!!!

Paolo....This is the preamp of my 1997 Studio CEC. It's a bit different I think.[img][/img]
