Building an Acoustic GUitar Pickup.

Hello all, So ive been researching and looking for a good acoustic guitar pickup system, and what I have found and am currently using in both my guitars is working excellent, but the fact is it could be improved upon.

I cant believe it would be that difficult. The Vics system I use is great, but I would like to have independent piezo and Microphone controls, not just a mic volume and master. But other than a AP5 or AP5 pro there is nothing else. Does anyone have an Idea how a person could make a system like that? I have a friend that is good with electronics, but I'm not sure if its possible to mod this system or rebuild a better system. Any suggestions guys? Btw If you are looking for an excellent affordable pickup system this is it! I've got them installed on both my guitars.
